The Park Museum Vladislav Varnenchik, located in Varna, stands as a memorial to the Battle of Varna on November 10, 1444. This battle saw the defeat of the Christian army led by Polish-Hungarian King Vladislav III Jagiello by the Ottoman forces. The king's sacrifice is remembered through a symbolic mausoleum built on the battlefield in 1935. He was later nicknamed “Varnenchik” in memory of his sacrifice near Varna. The museum complex, opened in 1964, includes a museum displaying weapons and equipment from the 15th century, found on the battlefield. Visitors can also view paintings, sculptures, and other artwork dedicated to the Battle of Varna. The park encompasses two Thracian mounds, one containing a Thracian tomb dating back to the 4th century BC. In addition to the historical exhibits, the park provides a space for relaxation with unique vegetation across its 30 decares. The museum also hosts temporary exhibitions, such as historical medieval costumes and displays of local graphic artists. The park-museum is a branch of the National Museum of Military History in Sofia.
