The Park Museum "Vladislav Varnenchik" is a poignant memorial complex situated on the very site of the Battle of Varna, which took place on November 10, 1444. This battle saw the defeat of the Christian army, led by the Polish-Hungarian King Vladislav III Yagello, by the Ottoman forces of Sultan Murad II. The young king, Vladislav, was killed in the battle, later being referred to as Varnenchik in remembrance of his sacrifice near Varna. The museum, opened in 1964, displays arms and equipment from the 15th century found on the battlefield, including helmets, crossbows, swords, shields and spears. Visitors can also view paintings, sculptures, prints, and other artworks dedicated to the Battle of Varna, as well as flags, models, and coats of arms. A special hall is dedicated to Yanosh Hunyadi, the commander-in-chief of King Vladislav's army. On the grounds, two Thracian mounds can be seen, one containing a Thracian tomb from the 4th century BC. In 1935, a symbolic mausoleum was erected in memory of King Vladislav Varnenchik. The museum park itself, spanning approximately 30 decares, offers a tranquil space with unique vegetation. The combination of historical exhibits and the peaceful park setting creates a balanced experience for visitors of all ages.
