    From Kigwena National Reserve, take the N5 road heading northwest towards Gitega. After approximately 30 km, turn left onto the N1 road. Continue on N1 for about 70 km until you reach the town of Goma, DRC. Upon arriving in Goma, follow signs to 'Mount Nyiragongo' and head towards the Buhumba area. The hike starts at the Nyiragongo Volcano parking area. Note that you may need to pay a fee for the park entrance and for parking, which can vary but is generally around $10 to $20.

    From Kigwena National Reserve, you can take a taxi-brousse (shared minibus) to Gitega. Once in Gitega, look for another taxi-brousse heading to Goma.
