    From the center of Carmel-by-the-Sea, head east on Ocean Avenue towards San Carlos Street. Turn left onto San Carlos Street and continue until you reach the intersection with 6th Avenue. Turn right onto 6th Avenue and follow it until you reach the intersection with Mission Street. Here, you will find bus stops for the Monterey-Salinas Transit. Take the Line 20 bus towards Watsonville. After approximately 35-40 minutes, get off at the bus stop closest to Elkhorn Road. From there, walk approximately 1 mile south along Elkhorn Road until you reach Elkhorn Slough Reserve at 1700 Elkhorn Rd.

    Start at the Carmel Plaza and head south on Mission Street. Continue on Mission Street until you reach the intersection with 6th Avenue. Turn right onto 6th Avenue and bike east until you reach San Carlos Street. Take a left on San Carlos Street to reach Carmel Valley Road. Follow Carmel Valley Road which turns into Elkhorn Road. Keep biking for approximately 5 miles, and you'll arrive at Elkhorn Slough Reserve.
