From Castro Valley, head to the nearest bus stop and take the AC Transit Line 35 towards Hayward. Ride for approximately 20 minutes and get off at the Hayward BART station. From there, board the BART train towards San Francisco/Daly City. After about 30 minutes, get off at the Embarcadero station. Transfer to the Muni bus 30 or 28, heading towards Sausalito. This will take roughly 40 minutes. Get off at the Sausalito stop and walk towards the waterfront to see the iconic houseboats.

If you're feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle in Castro Valley. Start by heading to the East Bay Regional Park bike trail. Follow the trail heading north until you reach the San Francisco Bay Trail. Continue on this trail, which will lead you to Sausalito. The ride will take approximately 1.5 to 2 hours depending on your pace. You’ll enjoy beautiful views of the bay along the way.
