Getting There

  • Driving

    From Twentynine Palms, drive south on Utah Trail, which becomes Pinto Basin Road, for approximately 20 miles. The Twin Tanks/Arch Rock Trailhead parking lot will be on the left (east) side of the road. From the south, take Interstate 10 to Cottonwood Spring Road and head north. Continue on Pinto Basin Road to the parking lot on the right.

  • Parking

    Park at the Twin Tanks Parking Lot. Parking can be limited, especially during peak season, so arrive early. An alternative access is available for campers via White Tank Campground. Parking is free. Note that vehicle navigation systems may direct drivers onto unpaved roads.

  • Walking

    From the Twin Tanks parking area, cross Pinto Basin Road at the crosswalk to reach the trailhead. Follow the trail for 0.6 miles until it becomes a short loop. The Arch Rock is located along the loop. The detour to Heart Rock is well-marked.
