Discover more about Fire Sign Café

Nestled on the western shore of Lake Tahoe in Tahoe City, Fire Sign Café has been a cherished dining destination for locals and tourists alike for over four decades. Established in 1978 by Brian and Lynne Barton, the café quickly gained a reputation for its hearty, home-style cooking and welcoming atmosphere. The name "Fire Sign" was inspired by the astrological fire signs, reflecting the founders' passion, energy, and zest for life, qualities they infused into their culinary venture. In its early years, Fire Sign Café was a small, family-run establishment with a focus on made-from-scratch meals. The Bartons' commitment to quality and their warm hospitality created a loyal following, and the café soon became a local favorite. Over time, the café expanded its menu and its space, but it never lost its original charm. In 2020, the Youngs sold Fire Sign Cafe to Rick Brown, a Lake Tahoe native. Mr. Brown also owns Chambers Landing Bar & Grill and Swiss Lakewood. Fire Sign Cafe continues to maintain its charm, delicious food, and sense of home through the years. Today, Fire Sign Café continues to uphold its tradition of serving delicious, home-style meals in a cozy and inviting setting. The café's interior exudes a rustic charm, with wooden accents, vintage décor, and a crackling fireplace that creates a warm and inviting ambiance. During the warmer months, the outdoor patio provides a delightful space to soak in the fresh mountain air and enjoy views of the surrounding landscape. The café's friendly and attentive staff adds to the overall experience, making guests feel like they are dining in a home away from home. The menu at Fire Sign Café is a testament to its commitment to quality and variety. Breakfast is served all day, featuring classic dishes like fluffy pancakes, eggs Benedict, and hearty omelets. Lunch options include savory burgers, sandwiches, and salads, all made with fresh, locally sourced ingredients whenever possible. Vegetarian and gluten-free options are also available.
