Discover more about Curry Village

Curry Village, originally known as Camp Curry, was established in 1899 by David and Jennie Curry as an affordable alternative to Yosemite's existing upscale hotels. The Currys, former teachers, brought a unique approach to park accommodations, starting with just seven tents and a focus on a family-oriented atmosphere. Over time, it evolved into a village offering a range of lodging from basic tent cabins to cozy motel rooms. Today, Curry Village remains a popular destination, offering a variety of accommodations, dining options, and activities. Guests can choose from 46 cabins with private baths, 14 cabins that share a bathhouse, 403 canvas tent cabins, and 18 standard motel rooms. Dining options include pizza, Mexican dishes, coffee, and ice cream. The village also features a gift shop, a tour and activity desk, and a swimming pool. Curry Village is ideally located for exploring Yosemite Valley. It provides easy access to popular trailheads like Half Dome and the Mist Trail. The Yosemite Valley Shuttle stops at Curry Village, making it easy to get around the valley without a car. The village is also known for its accessibility, with accessible cabins and amenities. Historically, Curry Village is significant for its impact on park accommodations and its role in Yosemite's development. It was the site of the Yosemite Firefall, a nightly event where burning embers were pushed off Glacier Point. Although the Firefall ended in 1968, Curry Village continues to offer a memorable Yosemite experience.
