Getting There

  • Shuttle & Walking

    From Yosemite Valley, the most convenient way to reach the Vernal Fall Footbridge trailhead is by utilizing the free Yosemite Valley Shuttle. Park in one of the designated lots near Yosemite Village or Curry Village, then board the East Valley Shuttle and disembark at Shuttle Stop #16, 'Happy Isles'. From the shuttle stop, follow the paved path towards the wilderness permit station, where the Mist Trail begins. The footbridge is approximately 0.8 miles (1.3 km) from the trailhead, a moderate uphill hike. There are no fees associated with the shuttle or accessing the trail itself, as it's included within the Yosemite National Park entrance fee.

  • Driving & Walking

    If driving is necessary, proceed towards Curry Village and follow signs for the 'Trailhead Parking' area located just beyond the village. Parking here provides the closest access to the trailhead, but spaces are limited and fill up quickly, especially during peak season. From the parking lot, it's roughly half a mile to the trailhead. Private vehicles aren't allowed on the road past the trailhead parking lot. Parking is not available at the trailhead itself. If the trailhead parking lot is full, you can park at Curry Village, less than one mile (1.6 km) from the trailhead. The Yosemite National Park entrance fee is required to access the park.
