The Port Borden Back Range Light is a reminder of Prince Edward Island's rich maritime history. Built in 1917, it served as a crucial navigational aid, guiding ferries and other vessels into Port Borden harbor. The range lights worked as a pair, with the Back Range Light lining up with the shorter Front Range Light to give captains their heading.Decommissioned in June 1997 with the opening of the Confederation Bridge, which made the ferry service obsolete, the lighthouse was moved to the Marine Rail Historic Park. Today, visitors can admire the 12.8-meter (42 feet) tall pyramidal wooden tower and learn about its history.
