Getting There

  • Driving & Shuttle

    To reach Lake Haiyaha, start from Estes Park and enter Rocky Mountain National Park. A timed entry permit may be required from May to October. Drive along Bear Lake Road to the Bear Lake Trailhead. Parking at the trailhead is limited and fills up quickly, especially during peak season. If the lot is full, park at the Park & Ride near Glacier Basin Campground and take the free Bear Lake Shuttle to the Bear Lake Trailhead. Park entry fee is $35 per vehicle for a 7-day pass.

  • Walking

    From the Bear Lake Trailhead, follow the signs towards Nymph Lake and Dream Lake. The trail is well-maintained and easy to follow for the first mile. Just before Dream Lake, turn left onto the Lake Haiyaha Trail. The trail climbs steadily through a pine forest before reaching Chaos Canyon and the boulder-strewn shoreline of Lake Haiyaha. The final 50 yards require navigating over large boulders. Allow approximately 1.5-2 hours for the 4.2-mile round trip hike.
