Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start by navigating to Idaho Springs, Colorado. From downtown Idaho Springs, head north on Colorado State Highway 103 (also known as St. Mary's Road). Follow this road for approximately 6 miles until you reach the St. Mary's Glacier Trailhead. The trailhead is located at the end of St. Mary's Drive, which is a small dirt road on the right side just before reaching the parking area. Please note that the parking area can fill up quickly on weekends, so arriving early is recommended. There is no fee for parking.

• Public Transportation

  If you prefer using public transportation, take the RTD (Regional Transportation District) bus service from Denver to Idaho Springs. You can board the bus at the Denver Union Station or any designated RTD stop. Once you arrive in Idaho Springs, you will need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service (such as Uber or Lyft) to take you the remaining 6 miles to the St. Mary's Glacier Trailhead. Expect to pay around $15-25 for the taxi or rideshare fare, depending on demand.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, biking to St. Mary's Glacier Trailhead is also an option. From Idaho Springs, you can follow the same route as cars on Highway 103. Be prepared for a steep uphill ride, and ensure you have appropriate biking gear. The distance from Idaho Springs to the trailhead is about 6 miles, and it might take about 45 minutes to an hour depending on your fitness level. Make sure to wear a helmet and bring plenty of water.
