Start at the Salida River Walk Trailhead located at 1st Street and Riverside Drive. Follow the river walk path heading east for about half a mile until you reach the intersection with E. Sackett Ave. Turn right onto E. Sackett Ave. and continue for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with US-285. Cross US-285 carefully and head north towards the main entrance of the Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway, which is located just beyond the city limits.

Begin your bike ride at the Salida Bike Path located near the intersection of C and 1st Streets. Head east along the bike path for about 1 mile until it connects with the Arkansas River. Continue along the river path, then take the exit onto E. Sackett Ave. Follow E. Sackett Ave. north until you reach the intersection with US-285. Cross US-285, and continue north for a short distance to arrive at the entrance of the Collegiate Peaks Scenic Byway.
