Getting There

• Car

  If you're driving to the Southport Historic District from anywhere in Fairfield County, start by getting onto I-95. If you're coming from the north, take exit 19 for US-1 toward Fairfield/Southport. If you are coming from the south, take exit 19 toward US-1. Once you exit, turn onto US-1 North (Post Road). Continue on US-1 for about 2 miles. Then, turn right onto Harbor Road. Follow Harbor Road for about 1 mile, and you will reach the Southport Historic District at 789 Harbor Rd, Southport, CT 06890. Parking is available on the street or at designated parking areas nearby.

• Public Transportation - Train

  To reach the Southport Historic District by public transportation, take the Metro-North Railroad from your location to the Southport train station. If you are starting from Bridgeport, you can catch a train from the Bridgeport Station heading towards New York City and get off at the Southport station. The train ride is about 15 minutes. Once you arrive at the Southport station, exit the station and head south on Station Street, then take a left onto US-1 (Post Road). Walk approximately 0.5 miles until you reach Harbor Road, then turn right. The Southport Historic District will be about 0.3 miles further down on Harbor Road at 789 Harbor Rd. Note that train tickets from Bridgeport to Southport typically cost around $5.75 one way.

  If you prefer to take the bus, you can catch the Greater Bridgeport Transit (GBT) bus route 7, which travels from Bridgeport to Southport. Board the bus at one of the stops in Bridgeport and confirm that the bus is heading towards Southport. The bus ride typically takes about 30 minutes. Get off at the nearest bus stop on Post Road (US-1) and walk south on Post Road until you reach Harbor Road. Turn right onto Harbor Road and walk approximately 0.3 miles to reach the Southport Historic District at 789 Harbor Rd. Note that the bus fare is about $1.50.
