If you are driving from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, start by heading southwest on the main road. Continue straight for about 2 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the route towards Santa Elena. Turn right and proceed for another 700 meters. Look for a sign indicating the location of the Monteverde Butterfly Gardens, which is situated 700 meters south of the Escuela Cerro Plano. The gardens will be on your left.

Public Transportation
For those using public transportation, you can take a local bus from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve to the town of Santa Elena. Buses typically run every hour. Once you arrive in Santa Elena, you can either take a taxi directly to the Monteverde Butterfly Gardens or inquire at the bus station for any available shuttle services. The gardens are located 700 meters south of the Escuela Cerro Plano, so a taxi ride will take about 10-15 minutes and cost around $5-10.

If you prefer to walk from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Biological Reserve, exit the park and head southwest on the main road. Continue straight for about 2 kilometers until you reach the intersection with the route towards Santa Elena. From there, turn right and walk for about 700 meters. Keep an eye out for the sign that marks the entrance to the Monteverde Butterfly Gardens on your left. The walk will take approximately 30-40 minutes, so wear comfortable shoes.
