Getting There

  • Bus

    From the center of Monteverde, take a local bus heading towards Santa Elena. The bus stop is located near the Monteverde Information Center. Confirm with the driver that they stop near Escuela Cerro Plano, which is the closest landmark to Valle Escondido. The bus ride takes approximately 20-30 minutes. Once you arrive at Escuela Cerro Plano, disembark and walk about 700 meters southwest along the main road until you reach Valle Escondido Nature Reserve.

  • Walking

    If you are staying in the immediate area of Monteverde, you can walk to Valle Escondido Nature Reserve. Start from the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve entrance and head southwest along the main road for about 1.5 kilometers. Continue past the Escuela Cerro Plano, and after about 700 meters, you will find the entrance to Valle Escondido Nature Reserve on your right.

  • Taxi

    If you prefer a quicker option, you can take a taxi from anywhere in Monteverde to Valle Escondido Nature Reserve. Simply ask the driver to take you to '700 suroeste Escuela Cerro Plano.' The ride will take approximately 10-15 minutes depending on your starting point, and taxis are readily available in the area.
