If you are staying in or near Cerro Plano, walking to Valle Escondido Nature Reserve is a pleasant option. From the center of Cerro Plano, walk approximately 700 meters southwest down the road until you reach the entrance of the reserve. Be prepared for a short walk on an unpaved path. The walk will take about 30 minutes and offers views of the surrounding nature. There is no cost for walking.

Public Transport
For those using public transportation, take a local bus from the main bus station in Monteverde that heads towards Santa Elena. Inform the driver you want to visit Valle Escondido Nature Reserve. The bus will drop you off near Escuela Cerro Plano. From there, walk approximately 700 meters southwest down the road until you reach the entrance of the reserve. Be prepared for a short walk on an unpaved path. The bus fare is approximately ₡3500 ($5.50 USD).

Taxis are readily available in Monteverde and can take you directly to Valle Escondido Nature Reserve. The cost may vary, but expect to pay around $10 to $15 USD for the ride, depending on your starting location.

If you are driving from the center of Monteverde, head south on Route 606 (Calle Monteverde). Look for a sign that indicates Valle Escondido Nature Reserve, which is located 700 meters southwest of Escuela Cerro Plano. Turn left onto the unpaved road leading to the reserve. There is a parking area available at the entrance. Parking is free.
