Car
If you are driving from the town of La Fortuna, take Route 142 heading south. Continue for approximately 30 km until you reach the intersection with Route 1. Turn right onto Route 1 and follow it for about 15 km. Look for the signs indicating Parque Nacional Volcán Poás. The park entrance will be on your left after approximately 6 km. Note that there is an entrance fee of around $10 per person, and parking is available at the entrance.

Public Transportation
From La Fortuna, take a bus to Alajuela. Buses leave regularly from the La Fortuna bus terminal. The journey takes around 3 hours, and the fare is approximately $5. Once in Alajuela, transfer to a bus headed to Poás. The buses to Poás typically leave from the Alajuela bus terminal (Terminal de Buses Alajuela). The fare is about $2, and the ride takes about 1 hour. After arriving in Poás, you will need to take a taxi or arrange for a shuttle to the park entrance, which is roughly 10 km away. Expect to pay around $15 for a taxi.
