From San Jose, head to the Terminal de Buses de San Carlos located at Avenida 4 and Calle 12. Purchase a ticket to Turrialba. Buses to Turrialba leave frequently throughout the day, and the journey takes about 2-3 hours. Once you arrive in Turrialba, you will be dropped off at the main bus terminal.

From the Turrialba bus terminal, you can take a taxi or a local bus to Guayabo National Monument. If taking a taxi, inform the driver you want to go to 'Monumento Nacional Guayabo'. The ride should take about 20 minutes. If you opt for the local bus, look for a bus heading towards Guayabo; the stop is near the main terminal, and the journey will take approximately 30 minutes.

If you prefer to walk from the Turrialba bus terminal, head northeast on Calle 0 until you reach the intersection with the main road (Route 10), then turn left. Continue walking until you see signs for Guayabo National Monument. The total walking distance is about 7 km, so prepare for a trek of about 1.5 to 2 hours.
