Discover more about Hradlový most - Rechle

Hradlový Most - Rechle, located near Vydří-Kašperské Hory, is a noteworthy tourist attraction celebrated for its captivating landscapes and historical importance. More than just a scenic spot, this bridge acts as a gateway to the area's rich heritage and stunning natural beauty. The bridge is a faithful replica of a historic structure that was originally built between 1799 and 1801. Its primary function was to divert water from the Vydra River into the Vchynicko-Tetovský Canal, a 14.4 km waterway constructed to transport timber from the Šumava forests to Prague. The bridge featured a system of gates and a wooden structure supported by granite pillars that helped to capture and direct the timber. Until 1953, a road crossed the bridge, connecting Rokyta and Modrava. However, after a new road was built, the bridge fell into disrepair and was eventually removed. In 2000, it was reconstructed at the expense of the Šumava National Park Administration. Today, the bridge is a popular destination for hikers and cyclists, providing access to trails along the canal and offering panoramic views of the surrounding countryside.
