Driving
If driving, start on I-80 E and take exit 310 for PA-209 S toward Delaware Water Gap. Follow PA-209 S into the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area. Continue until you reach the parking area for the Appalachian Trail. The trailhead is at the parking area. Be aware that the road from Delaware Water Gap may be a single lane with traffic lights. Parking is free at the Appalachian Trail parking area. Limited parking is available, especially on weekends.

Public Transport
To reach Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area via public transportation, take a NJ Transit train to the Stroudsburg station. From the station, take a local taxi or rideshare service to the park entrance. From there, walk to the Appalachian Trail entrance and hike approximately 1 mile to Council Rock Lookout. Taxi/rideshare cost from Stroudsburg Station to the Appalachian Trail parking area is approximately $20-$30.

From the Appalachian Trail parking area, hike approximately 1 mile on the Appalachian Trail to reach Council Rock Lookout. The hike is moderately challenging and takes about 30 minutes to an hour. Follow the white blazes marking the Appalachian Trail.
