Getting There

    If you are approaching from the east in New Jersey via I-80, follow I-80 West to cross the Delaware Water Gap Toll Bridge into Pennsylvania. Be aware that tolls are collected in the westbound direction. As of January 13, 2025, the bridge is cashless, so ensure you have an E-ZPass or are prepared for TOLL BY PLATE billing. The TOLL BY PLATE car toll is $3, compared to $1.50 for E-ZPass.

  • Walking

    If you're on foot and wish to cross the bridge, access the pedestrian walkway on the south side of the New Jersey-bound section. The walkway connects the Appalachian Trail between Pennsylvania and New Jersey. There are no tolls for pedestrians.

The Delaware Water Gap Toll Bridge is a vital transportation link that carries Interstate 80 across the Delaware River, connecting Hardwick Township, New Jersey, and Delaware Water Gap, Pennsylvania. This 2,465-foot-long bridge not only facilitates travel but also offers breathtaking views of the Delaware Water Gap, a popular destination for outdoor enthusiasts. Opened on December 16, 1953, the bridge was constructed by the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission. Initially, it carried U.S. Route 611 before Interstate 80 was routed onto it in 1959. The bridge features dual roadways separated by a concrete barrier, and a pedestrian walkway on the south side allows pedestrians to cross the river while enjoying the scenery. This walkway also connects the northern terminus of the Appalachian Trail in Pennsylvania with its southern end in New Jersey. The Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, which straddles both sides of the river, offers a variety of activities, including hiking, swimming, and exploring historic sites. The bridge serves as a gateway to the Pocono Mountains, a popular tourist destination.
