From downtown Cairo, a taxi is the quickest way to reach the Great Sphinx of Giza. Taxis are readily available throughout Cairo. The ride typically takes 18-40 minutes, depending on traffic, covering a distance of approximately 17-20 kilometers. Expect to pay between EGP 30-90 for the ride. Alternatively, ride-sharing apps like Uber or Careem are also available.

Public Transport
To reach the Great Sphinx via public transport from downtown Cairo, take Metro Line 2 to Giza Station. From there, cross Al Haram Street and take a public bus or microbus heading towards the pyramids. The bus ride takes approximately 25 minutes. The total cost for the metro and bus is less than EGP 10. Be prepared for a 20-minute walk from the bus stop to the entrance of the Giza Plateau.

Walking
While it is possible to walk to the Giza Plateau, it is not recommended due to the distance and heat. From the Giza Metro station, it would take approximately 3 hours to walk to the panoramic view and would involve walking on Al-Haram street. It is better to take a taxi or bus for this final approach.
