Getting There

    Start from the center of Mekele at Menelik Square. Head east on Menelik Street toward Adigrat Street for about 1 km. You will pass several shops and cafes. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Asegede Road. Turn left onto Asegede Road and walk approximately 2 km. Along the way, you will see local markets and residential areas. Keep an eye out for public transport vehicles if you prefer to ask for directions. After 2 km, you will reach a fork in the road. Take the right fork, which leads toward Megab. Walk for another 3 km, and you will see signs indicating the direction to Abune Yemata Church. Follow these signs, and after about 20 minutes of walking, you will arrive at the base of the Gheralta massif where the church is located. From here, a local guide can assist you with the hike up to the church.
