Getting There

  • Car

    From Tórshavn, take Route 10 towards Eysturoy via the Eysturoyartunnilin. Continue on Route 10, then turn left onto the road towards Funningur and Gjógv. The trailhead is located at the Gjáarskarð mountain pass between Funningur and Gjógv. Parking is available at the pass near a cattle grid. Note that roads in the Gjáarskarð mountain pass may not be plowed in winter. The Eysturoyartunnilin toll is 75 DKK each way, payable online or at service stations.

    From Tórshavn, take bus route 400 to Oyrarbakki. From Oyrarbakki, there are bus routes to Funningur. From Funningur, it is approximately 4km to the trailhead; walking is an option. Bus fares vary depending on the route, but a single fare for a short trip is typically around 30 DKK.
