Car
From Honeymoon Island State Park, head south on Honeymoon Island Causeway toward Dunedin. Continue on the causeway, which will take you to the mainland. Once you reach the traffic light at the intersection with the US-19, turn left onto US-19 South. Follow US-19 South until you reach the exit for Pinellas Bayway (approximately 10 miles). Take the exit and follow the signs to the Pinellas Bayway. Continue on the Bayway until you reach the toll booth. The toll is $1.00 for cars (exact change is typically required). After paying the toll, proceed on the Bayway until you reach the intersection with the 54th Avenue South. Turn left onto 54th Avenue South and follow it to the end where you will find the parking lot for the Fort DeSoto Park.

Once at Fort DeSoto Park, locate the ferry service that operates to Egmont Key. The ferry departs from the boat ramp area. You will need to purchase a ferry ticket, which typically costs around $15 for adults and $10 for children. Check the ferry schedule in advance as it may vary by season and day of the week. Ensure to arrive at least 30 minutes before departure to secure your spot. The ferry ride will take approximately 30 minutes, and once you arrive at Egmont Key, you can explore the state park, beaches, and historical sites.
