Driving
From Clermont-Ferrand, follow the D941 north towards Orcines. Continue on the D941, following signs for Puy de Dôme. Upon reaching Orcines, follow the signs to the 'Panoramique des Dômes' and the Maison de Site. Ample free parking is available at the Maison de Site. From the parking area, it's a short walk to the Panoramique des Dômes train station or the trailheads for hiking to the summit.

Public Transport
From Clermont-Ferrand, take the special Puy de Dôme shuttle bus that operates from April to November. The shuttle connects the Clermont-Ferrand train station (Gare SNCF) to the Maison de Site at the foot of Puy de Dôme. From the Maison de Site, you can access the Panoramique des Dômes train or the hiking trails. The shuttle service provides a convenient and eco-friendly way to reach the mountain. Check the current schedule and fares on the Clermont Auvergne Volcans website. A round-trip ticket costs approximately €5.

Walking
If arriving by car and parking at Col de Ceyssat, the final approach is a 1.9km hike along the Chemin des Muletiers (Muleteers' Path). This steep trail ascends approximately 350 meters in altitude and takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour. Parking at Col de Ceyssat is free, but spaces are limited, especially during peak season. Note that overnight parking is prohibited. From the parking area, follow the well-marked trail towards the summit of Puy de Dôme.

From the Maison de Site, purchase tickets for the Panoramique des Dômes cogwheel train. A round-trip adult ticket costs €17.20 - €18.60 depending on the season, while a one-way ticket costs €14.40 - €15.50. Child tickets (ages 4-14) are €10.10 - €11.70 for a round trip. The train departs regularly (every 20-40 minutes depending on the season) and takes approximately 15 minutes to reach the summit. Upon arrival at the summit station, it's a short walk to the various attractions and viewpoints.
