    From Vardzia, head southeast on the main road (E40) towards Khertvisi Fortress. The drive is approximately 12 kilometers and should take around 15-20 minutes. Follow the signs for Khertvisi as you approach the fortress, which is located on a hill overlooking the confluence of the Mtkvari River and a small tributary. There is parking available near the fortress entrance.

    To reach Khertvisi Fortress from Vardzia via public transport, first, take a marshrutka (minibus) from the main bus stop in Vardzia. You can ask local residents for the specific departure point. The marshrutka will head towards Akhaltsikhe and will stop near Khertvisi Fortress. The fare is usually around 1 GEL. Once you alight from the marshrutka, it's a short 5-minute walk to the fortress entrance.
