Walking
From the Holstentor, Lübeck's iconic city gate, walk along Holstenstraße, the main pedestrian street, for about 5 minutes. Continue straight, passing the St. Petri church on your right. The Markt will open up in front of you, dominated by the Rathaus and Marienkirche. The walk is flat and straightforward.

From Lübeck Hauptbahnhof (main train station), take any bus that stops at 'Rathausmarkt' or 'Sandstraße'. Many bus lines serve this area due to its central location. From either stop, the Markt is a short walk away. A single ticket costs approximately €2.50. Alternatively, from the ZOB bus station, it's about a 15-20 minute walk to the Christmas markets. Almost every line will take you straight to the Old Town island. Ticket tips. The small group ticket is valid for up to 5 people for a round trip. Your destination is only four or fewer stops away? A taxi or ride-share from Lübeck Hauptbahnhof to the Markt will take approximately 5-10 minutes, depending on traffic. Expect to pay around €10-€15. Simply tell the driver 'Markt, bitte' (Markt, please).

Driving directly to the Markt is not recommended due to limited parking and pedestrian zones. The closest parking garages are 'Parkhaus Mitte' or 'Pferdemarkt'. From either garage, it's a short walk to the Markt. Parking fees at these garages are approximately €2.50 per hour, with a daily maximum of €16.00. Be aware that parking can be very limited, especially during the Christmas Market.
