Getting There

  • Walking

    If you're already in Altstadt, the easiest way to reach the Imperial Castle of Nuremberg (Burg 17, 90403 Nürnberg) is by walking. From the main square, Hauptmarkt, head northwest on St. Lorenz Straße. Continue straight until you reach the intersection with Burgstraße. Turn left onto Burgstraße, and you'll see signs pointing to the castle. Follow the signs as the path leads you up the hill. The castle is located at the top of the hill, and the walk should take about 15-20 minutes.

  • Public Transport

    While walking is the most direct way to the Imperial Castle, if you prefer public transport, you can take the tram. From the Hauptmarkt, walk to the nearby tram stop called 'Hauptbahnhof.' Board tram line 9 towards 'Waldkirch.' Get off at 'Burgstraße' (the second stop). From there, walk towards the castle by following the path up the hill. It should take around 10 minutes to walk to the castle from the tram stop. Please note that a single tram ticket costs approximately €2.70.
