The Bronze Fountain of Oberammergau: A Historic Tribute

Getting There

• Walking

  If you are already in Oberammergau, the Bronze Fountain is easily accessible on foot. From the central square (Ludwigstraße), head east on Ludwigstraße for about 300 meters. Turn left onto Dorfstraße. Continue walking for another 200 meters, and you will find the Bronze Fountain at Dorfstraße 23. The fountain is a historical landmark that commemorates the plague and the founding of the Passion Play.

• Bicycle

  For those who prefer cycling, you can rent a bike from one of the local rental shops in Oberammergau. Start at the central square (Ludwigstraße) and head east on Ludwigstraße. After about 300 meters, turn left onto Dorfstraße. The ride should take about 5-10 minutes, depending on your pace. Look for the Bronze Fountain at Dorfstraße 23. Cycling is a great way to enjoy the scenic views of the town.

  If you are driving, navigate to Oberammergau via the A95 highway. Once you enter Oberammergau, follow the signs towards the town center. Park in one of the public parking areas near Ludwigstraße. From the parking area, walk east on Ludwigstraße for about 300 meters, then turn left onto Dorfstraße. The Bronze Fountain is located at Dorfstraße 23.
