From Chania, head to the Central Bus Station (KTEL) located at 1866 Square. Purchase a ticket for the bus to Sfakia, which operates several times a day. The journey takes approximately 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Sfakia, you will be near the coast with a beautiful view of the Libyan Sea.

From Sfakia, you will need to hike to Pachnes, which is approximately 8 kilometers from the village. Start your hike by following the trail signs towards the Samaria Gorge. After about 1 kilometer, you will reach the trailhead for Pachnes. This hike is steep and can take around 3 to 4 hours, so prepare accordingly with water, snacks, and proper hiking gear.
