Getting There

  • Bus

    From Heraklion, take the KTEL bus from the central bus station to Rethymno. The journey takes about 1.5 hours. Upon arrival at Rethymno bus station, walk towards the main road, and look for bus number 1 or 2 towards Platanes Beach. These buses run frequently, approximately every 30 minutes.

  • Bus

    If you are in Chania, take the KTEL bus to Rethymno. After arriving at Rethymno, follow the same instructions as above to get to Platanes Beach using bus number 1 or 2.

  • Walking

    If you are staying in Rethymno, you can walk to Platanes Beach. From the old town of Rethymno, head towards the seafront promenade. Continue walking east along the beach for about 3 kilometers. You will reach Platanes Beach, which is well signposted.

  • Taxi

    If public transport is not preferred, you can take a taxi from Rethymno city center directly to Platanes Beach. It takes about 10 minutes and should cost around 10-15 Euros.
