Driving
The most common starting point for hiking Mount Ida is the Nida Plateau. From Heraklion, take the E75 highway towards Rethymno, then follow the signs to Anogeia. From Anogeia, continue on the road to the Nida Plateau. The drive is approximately 1.5 hours. Parking is available near the taverna on the plateau. Be aware that the road to the refuge has some narrow sections. Parking at Mygero Hut is free.
Walking
From the Nida Plateau, follow the well-marked trail towards the summit. The path is marked with poles and red dots. The hike to the summit and back takes approximately 5-7 hours. The first part of the trail is a steep climb, but the path gradually becomes easier. After about two hours, the path joins the route from the Nida Plateau, and it's an easy one-hour walk to the summit.
