From the Historical Museum of Crete, exit the building and head towards the main road, 25th August Street. Turn left and continue walking straight for about 10 minutes. You will pass by several shops and cafes along the way, and you can enjoy the bustling atmosphere of Heraklion. Keep walking until you reach the coastline, where you will see the sea and the Venetian harbor in front of you.

Once you reach the waterfront, continue walking along the promenade towards the right (east). You will see the impressive Rocca a Mare Fortress (Koules) directly in front of you. The fortress is located at the entrance of the old harbor, and it’s a short 5-minute walk from the coastline.
