    If you are driving to Iwokrama River Lodge, begin your journey on the Georgetown-Lethem Road (also known as the Rupununi Road). Travel south for approximately 150 kilometers until you reach the Kurupukari Crossing, which is marked by a sign. At the crossing, you will need to take a ferry across the Essequibo River. The ferry operates regularly, but be prepared for possible waiting times depending on traffic. Once you have crossed the river, continue along the road for about 10 kilometers until you arrive at the Iwokrama River Lodge, which will be on your right. Ensure you have cash ready for the ferry fee.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Iwokrama River Lodge via public transportation, start by taking a bus from Georgetown to Lethem, which departs from the main bus terminal. The journey takes approximately 12-14 hours, so it is advisable to travel overnight. Upon arriving in Lethem, you can find a minibus or taxi heading to Kurupukari. Inform the driver you want to stop at the Kurupukari Crossing. After reaching the crossing, you will need to take the ferry across the Essequibo River. Once on the other side, you can either walk the remaining 10 kilometers to Iwokrama River Lodge or arrange for a taxi to take you there.
