Car
To reach Mulagljufur Canyon from Hengifoss Waterfall by car, start by heading south on Route 1 (the Ring Road) from the parking area at Hengifoss. Continue for approximately 18 kilometers until you see a sign for Route 998, which leads towards the canyon. Turn left onto Route 998 and follow it for about 12 kilometers. The road may become gravel and bumpy, so drive carefully. Look for signs indicating the canyon. You will arrive at the parking area near the canyon, from where you can explore the beautiful views.

Public Transportation
If you're using public transportation, you will first need to take a bus from Hengifoss Waterfall back to the nearest town, Egilsstaðir. From Egilsstaðir, check local bus schedules for connections to Höfn, as there are no direct buses to Mulagljufur Canyon. The journey may take several hours, and you will need to arrange a taxi from Höfn to reach the canyon, which is about 40 kilometers away. Be sure to confirm availability and costs ahead of time, as taxi services can vary.

For the adventurous, you can also hike from Hengifoss Waterfall to Mulagljufur Canyon, although this requires good physical condition and preparation. Start at Hengifoss and follow the marked trails towards the canyon. The hike is approximately 7-10 kilometers one way, depending on your route. Ensure you have proper hiking gear, food, and water, as this is a remote area.
