    From Kopavogur, head to the nearest bus stop, which could be in the downtown area or near your accommodation. Take Bus number 1 towards 'Hlemmur' or 'Borgartún' and stay on the bus for about 20-25 minutes. Get off at the 'Hlemmur' bus stop. From there, walk towards the main road (Tryggvagata) and turn left. Continue walking until you reach Lækjargata, then turn right. Follow Lækjargata until you reach Fríkirkjuvegur. The National Gallery of Iceland will be on your left at Fríkirkjuvegur 7.

  • Walking

    If you are near the Kopavogur town center, head towards the main road (Kopavogur's central street). Walk towards the bus terminal and find the bus stop for Bus number 1. This is the same bus that takes you to the National Gallery. Alternatively, if you prefer walking, it's about a 45-60 minute walk to the gallery. Head north on the main street until you reach the coast, then follow the coastline towards Reykjavík, taking in the views as you walk towards the National Gallery.

    If you have rented a bicycle, you can ride directly from Kopavogur to Reykjavík. Take the bike paths along the coastal road for a scenic ride, which should take about 30-40 minutes. Follow the coastal path until you reach the city center. Once in Reykjavík, navigate towards the area surrounding Harpa Concert Hall, then proceed to Fríkirkjuvegur and look for the National Gallery, located at Fríkirkjuvegur 7.
