Getting There

• Car

  If you are traveling by car, start from the nearest major town, Akureyri. Head west on Route 1 (the Ring Road) towards Sauðárkrókur. After approximately 120 km, take the exit onto Route 75 towards Sauðárkrókur. Follow Route 75 for about 50 km until you reach Sauðárkrókur. Once in the town, follow signs to Skagfirðingabraut. The observation point Útsýnisstaður yfir Sauðárkrók is located at Skagfirðingabraut 39.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, check for bus services from Akureyri to Sauðárkrókur. The bus company Strætó provides services that connect various towns in the region. Once you arrive at the Sauðárkrókur bus station, you can either walk to the observation point, which is about a 10-minute walk (800 meters) straight along Skagfirðingabraut, or take a local taxi if you prefer.

• Walking

  If you are already in Sauðárkrókur, the observation deck is easily accessible by foot. From the town center, head southwest on Skagfirðingabraut for approximately 1 km. The observation point is well-marked, and you will enjoy scenic views along the way.

• Taxi

  Taxis are available in Sauðárkrókur. If you prefer a direct route to Útsýnisstaður yfir Sauðárkrók, you can call for a taxi from your location in town. The fare is typically around 1,500 ISK to 2,500 ISK, depending on your starting point.
