Getting There

• Car

  From the Sawtooth National Recreation Area, head south on ID-75 toward the town of Ketchum. Follow ID-75 until you reach the junction with I-84. Take the exit onto I-84 East toward Twin Falls. Continue on I-84 for approximately 60 miles. Take exit 167 for ID-46 toward Wendell. Turn left onto ID-46 and continue until you reach the town of Wendell. Look for signs directing you to Box Canyon Springs Preserve, which is located a few miles south of Wendell.

• Public Transportation

  If you are relying on public transportation, check with local bus services that operate in the area, such as the Magic Valley Transit. You will need to take a bus from Ketchum or Sun Valley towards Twin Falls. Once in Twin Falls, transfer to a bus heading towards Wendell. From Wendell, you may need to arrange for a taxi or rideshare service to reach Box Canyon Springs Preserve, as public transit options may be limited.

• Bicycle

  For adventurous travelers, consider biking from the Sawtooth National Recreation Area to Box Canyon Springs Preserve. This will require a good level of fitness and preparation. You can follow the scenic routes connecting to ID-75 and ID-46, but be aware of traffic, especially on ID-46. Make sure to check the weather conditions and plan for rest stops along the way.

• Walking

  If you are already in Wendell and prefer to walk, you can walk to Box Canyon Springs Preserve. From the center of Wendell, head south on Main Street, which will lead you toward ID-46. Once you reach ID-46, follow it south for approximately 2 miles. Be cautious of vehicle traffic, as this route does not have dedicated pedestrian paths.
