If you are starting from the Elgin Metra Train Station, exit the station and head south on Grove Avenue. Walk for about 0.3 miles until you reach the intersection with Highland Avenue. Turn right onto Highland Avenue and continue walking for about 0.2 miles. You will see the entrance to the Fox River Trail on your left. Follow the trail along the Fox River for approximately 0.5 miles, and you will arrive at Walton Island Park, which is located directly on the trail.

If you have a bicycle, starting from the downtown Elgin area, head towards the Fox River Trail. You can access the trail from several points in the downtown area. Once on the Fox River Trail, bike north for about 1 mile. Walton Island Park will be on your right side as you continue along the trail.
