    If you're driving from the city of Valparaiso, head east on US-30 E towards I-65 N. Merge onto I-65 N and follow it until you reach exit 259 for US-12 W. Take US-12 W, which will lead you directly to the Indiana Dunes National Park. Follow the signs to the park entrance after arriving in Porter, IN.

  • Car

    From the town of Chesterton, take IN-49 S. Merge onto I-94 E towards Detroit. Take exit 26 for US-12 towards Michigan City. Follow US-12, and keep an eye out for the signs directing you to Indiana Dunes National Park. The park entrance will be on your right as you approach Porter.

  • Public Transportation

    To reach Indiana Dunes National Park via public transportation from Chicago, take the South Shore Line train from the Millennium Station heading towards South Bend. Get off at the Dune Park station. From there, you can take a taxi or rideshare service to the park entrance which is approximately 2 miles away. Make sure to check the train schedule for exact times.
