From your location in Bali, head to the nearest bus station that operates local services to Amlapura or Karangasem. Buses usually depart from major areas like Ubud or Denpasar. Make sure to take a bus heading towards Amlapura. The journey will take about 1.5 to 2 hours. Once you arrive in Amlapura, you can take a local 'bemo' (minibus) heading to Bebandem. Inform the driver you want to go to Jungutan, the village closest to Mount Agung.

After arriving in Amlapura, locate the bemo terminal, which is often near the main bus station. Look for a bemo heading towards Bebandem. The fare is usually around IDR 20,000. The ride will take about 30 minutes. Get off in Jungutan, a village close to Mount Agung. From here, you might need to walk or hire a local guide to help you reach the base of Mount Agung for trekking.

Motorbike Rental
If you are comfortable riding a motorbike, you can rent one in Amlapura. Make sure to wear a helmet and have a valid driver's license. From Amlapura, follow the signs towards Bebandem, then head towards Jungutan. The ride should take about 30 minutes. Once in Jungutan, ask locals for directions to the trekking starting point for Mount Agung.
