Car
If you're driving from Ubud, start by heading east on Jalan Raya Ubud. Continue for about 12 kilometers until you reach the intersection with Jalan Raya Batubulan. Turn left onto Jalan Raya Batubulan and follow the road for approximately 8 kilometers. When you reach the village of Besakih, keep an eye out for signs directing you to Gunung Agung. The approach to the mountain will take you through scenic rice paddies and local villages. The total drive time is roughly 45 minutes, depending on traffic. Parking is available near the base of Gunung Agung, but there may be a small fee of around IDR 10,000 for parking.

Public Transportation
To reach Gunung Agung by public transportation from Ubud, you will first need to take a local 'bemo' (shared minivan) or a taxi to the main bus terminal in Ubud. From there, take a bus to Amlapura, which is the capital of Karangasem Regency. Buses run regularly and the fare is around IDR 30,000. Once you arrive in Amlapura, you will need to hire a local taxi or a 'ojek' (motorcycle taxi) to take you to the base of Gunung Agung. The taxi fare from Amlapura to Gunung Agung is approximately IDR 100,000. The entire journey can take about 2-3 hours, so plan accordingly.
