The museum consists of over 35 interactive exhibits and includes interviews collected via the Voices of Iowa Oral History Project. The story of the five Sullivan brothers, who served together on the USS Juneau and were all killed in action during World War II, is a key part of the museum. Their story represents all Iowans who have served. A reproduction of the Sullivan home's living room is featured, along with the Gold Star flag that was displayed in their window. Together, the museums provide a comprehensive look at Iowa's past and present, making it a worthwhile destination for visitors of all ages.
