Discover more about Archivi della Resistenza

Nestled in the town of Fosdinovo, the Archivi della Resistenza (Archives of the Resistance) serves as both a museum and a cultural center, dedicated to the history of the Italian Resistance during World War II. The museum is housed in a building that was once a mountain colony for children, established by partisans after the war, in a location that witnessed violent clashes between partisans, Germans, and fascists. This symbolic setting enhances the visitor experience, providing a tangible connection to the past. The museum's collection includes a wide array of historical documents, photographs, and artifacts that vividly depict the experiences of those involved in the Resistance. Instead of traditional exhibits, the museum features eight large screens displaying videos of interviews with individuals who lived through the events of the Resistance, offering personal perspectives on this crucial period in Italian history. In addition to its historical exhibits, the Archivi della Resistenza hosts cultural events and educational programs, including the festival “Fino al cuore della rivolta” (To the Heart of Revolt) during the summer. This event features music, theatre, poetry, screenings and debates. The museum also has a cultural and gastronomic center that offers traditional local dishes.
