Getting There

• Car

  If you're traveling by car, start from Florence. Take the A11 motorway towards Pisa and exit at Empoli Ovest. Follow signs for Gambassi Terme on the SP5 road. Continue on the SP5 until you reach Chianni. Once in Chianni, follow the signs to the Pieve of Saint Maria, which is located in the center of the village. There is parking available near the church.

• Public Transportation

  For those using public transportation, take a train from Florence to Certaldo. Trains run frequently and the journey takes about 30 minutes. From Certaldo, you can catch a bus to Gambassi Terme. Buses run several times a day. Upon arrival in Gambassi Terme, you can either walk to Chianni (approximately 30 minutes) or take a taxi to reach the Pieve of Saint Maria.

• Taxi Service

  If you prefer a direct route without public transport hassle, consider taking a taxi from a nearby city such as Certaldo or San Gimignano directly to Chianni. This might cost between €30 to €50 depending on the distance and time of day. Confirm the fare before starting your trip.

• Bicycle

  For the more adventurous, renting a bicycle in Certaldo and cycling to Chianni is an option. The ride is approximately 10 km and takes about 40 minutes. Follow the scenic roads through the Tuscan countryside, but be prepared for some uphill sections. Ensure to wear a helmet and follow local traffic rules.
