Car
If you're driving from central Hakone, take Route 1 (the Odawara-Atsugi Road) towards Kamakura. After approximately 30 minutes, follow the signs for Kamakura and merge onto Route 134. Continue on this road until you reach Kamakura. Once in Kamakura, follow the signs to Kencho-ji, located at 8 Yamanouchi. There is parking available nearby, but be aware that parking fees may apply, typically around ¥500-¥1000 for a few hours.

Public Transportation
To reach Kencho-ji using public transportation from Hakone, first take the Hakone Tozan Railway from Hakone Yumoto Station to Odawara Station. This train ride takes about 15 minutes. From Odawara Station, transfer to the JR Yokosuka Line and head towards Zushi Station. Get off at Kamakura Station, which takes around 30 minutes. After arriving at Kamakura Station, exit the station and walk towards the East Exit. From there, you can either take a bus to Kencho-ji (Bus No. 23, direction Kencho-ji) or walk, which takes about 20-30 minutes. The bus fare is approximately ¥210.

If you prefer to walk from Kamakura Station to Kencho-ji, exit the station and head east on Komachi Street. Continue straight until you reach a fork; take the left path that leads you up the hill towards Kencho-ji. The walk is scenic and takes about 20-30 minutes, depending on your pace.
