Public Transportation
From Hiroshima Station, take the JR Geibi Line towards Kake. The train ride takes approximately 1 hour. Disembark at Akiōta Station. After exiting the station, you can take a local bus or a taxi to Sandan-kyō, which is about 15 kilometers away. If you choose the bus, check the local timetable at the station for the correct route to Shiwagi. The bus ride should take around 30 minutes. Once you arrive at the Sandan-kyō stop, follow the signs leading to the entrance of the ravine.

Bicycle
For those feeling adventurous, you can rent a bicycle from various rental shops in Hiroshima. Start at Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and head towards the Hiroshima Bay area. Follow Route 54 towards Akiōta, which is approximately 30 kilometers away. The ride will take about 2 hours, and you’ll enjoy scenic views along the way. Upon reaching Akiōta, follow local signs to Sandan-kyō, which should be a short ride from the main road.

Walking to Sandan-kyō isn't practical due to the distance (approximately 30 kilometers from the city center) and the time it would take (around 6-7 hours). However, if you are determined to walk, you can start from the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park, follow the walking paths towards the outskirts of the city, and eventually connect to Route 54 towards Akiōta. Ensure you have enough provisions, and consider making stops along the way to enjoy the local scenery.
