If you're traveling by car, head towards the center of Hitachi and take Route 6 (also called 'Nihonbashi-cho') heading south. Continue on Route 6 for approximately 80 kilometers (about 1.5 hours). Follow the signs toward Shinjuku City in Tokyo. Once you reach Shinjuku, look for signs directing you to Ichigayafunagawaramachi. The exact address is 9 Ichigayafunagawaramachi, which is near the Gallery Pause. There is limited parking in the area, so be prepared to find a nearby parking lot, which typically costs around 500-1000 yen for a few hours.
Train

For those using public transportation, start at Hitachi Station. Board the JR Joban Line heading towards Ueno. Transfer at Ueno Station to the Tokyo Metro Chiyoda Line and take a train towards Yoyogi Uehara. At Yoyogi Uehara Station, switch to the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line going towards Shinjuku Station. Finally, from Shinjuku Station, take the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line to Ichigaya Station. From Ichigaya Station, it's a short walk (approximately 10 minutes) to Ushigome Moat located at 9 Ichigayafunagawaramachi. Make sure to have a prepaid Suica or Pasmo card for convenient travel, which costs around 2000 yen for initial purchase including a deposit.
Bus

If you prefer taking a bus, start at Hitachi Station and take the Ibaraki Kotsu bus bound for Toride Station. Get off at Toride Station and transfer to the Tsukuba Express, heading to Akihabara. From Akihabara, transfer to the JR Chuo Line to Shinjuku Station. Finally, take the Tokyo Metro Namboku Line to Ichigaya Station.
